Artists' Open House

Essex Studios will be open 7 - 10 PM.
Due to my ACE Hdw. work schedule I will arrive at;
- 7:30 on Friday night.
- 7:30 on Saturday night.

Studio #256 is on the 2nd floor, west side of bldg.

Traditional Porch Steps Rebuilt
Pulling off the treads and risers revealed rotted stringers. This was the result of lumber resting directly on ground and having no chance to dry out due to construction without gaps between treads and risers.
New stringers cut from pressure treated lumber and resting on concrete patio blocks.
Now, the treads and risers have 3/8" gaps to allow water to drain and air to flow through. I was able to re-use the treads to save money on materials. Freshly painted with 2 coats of oil-based porch/deck.
Hallway Closet To Match Existing Woodwork
Making something appear as if it was original to the house uses my design and renovation skills. The challenge was to find doors and create trim to complete a combination linen and long wardrobe closet that looks like it was always there.

Arch-top Fence
Client wanted to screen a mulch pile from house and street. I suggested a soft arch style to break up the horizontals of the stone walls. Also, stain the "screen" to blend in with its surroundings.

Saw-tooth Fence w/ Gate
A short fence to keep dogs from entering front yard and street. Saw-tooth pattern yields 2 fence boards per 8' length and is not friendly to climb over.

Client wanted to screen propane tanks and hide garbage cans from entrance drive. Used in-stock 6x8' fencing sections saving time and money on materials.
